PathPoint's Coronavirus Plan of Action

March 9, 2020

Dear PathPoint Family Member/Caretaker and People we Partner with and Support:

With the coronavirus or COVID-19 in the news, we wanted to share the steps PathPoint is taking to address the virus. COVID-19 is a virus, like the seasonal flu, that spreads easily person to person, mainly from airborne droplets released by the infected person through coughing or sneezing. Signs and symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) currently states that the risk of getting COVID-19 in the U.S. is currently low, however, the potential public health threat posed by COVID-19 is very high. PathPoint is committed to the health and safety of all the individuals we serve and staff and is following the guidance of the CDC and local public health departments. We have taken the following actions:

  • Monitor daily the coronavirus situation and implement recommendations through a number of resources including the Center for Disease Control, regional centers, state and local authorities, community care licensing centers, the federal government, and public health agencies. We are following their recommendations and will continue to do so.
  • Provide guidance on staying home when sick and follow required protocol if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 that may impact individuals we serve or staff.
  • Implement our standard flu protection protocol, that includes COVID-19, at all our facilities. These plans include mandatory hand washing—one of the best ways to prevent the virus; a disinfecting schedule for common areas such as bathrooms and kitchens; designating all PathPoint facilities as “no handshake” zones; and the appropriate use of gloves, masks, and hand sanitizers.

We will continue to provide you updates. Please bring up any concerns or questions you may have—anytime—with your PathPoint staff. Your local county health department is also a good source of information in your community.

Sincerely,

Harry Bruell
President and CEO
