National Disability Employment Awareness Month Ventura County

National Disability Awareness Month is a signficant month for us here at PathPoint.

This is a unique opportunity to highlight the local businesses, corporations and partners who truly make independent living a success for our individuals and communities.

These partnerships have encouraged growth, job opportunities and life skills for each participant involved.

We are truly thankful for these relationships and would like to give you a glimpse of how local employers have changed both our participant’s lives as well as our communities for the better.

California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI)

In September of 2014, PathPoint re-joined the landscaping community at CSUCI and were welcomed back with open arms. The current crew consists of three participants and one coach, working part time Mondays through Thursdays. Their duties there include the use of brooms and rakes to clean debris and leaves from courtyards and sidewalks, use of shovels and hand tools for trimming hedges and weeding, picking up and emptying trash cans and yard waste, wiping down benches surrounding courtyards, and planting various trees and plants throughout the campus. The participants excel daily with each task they are assigned, and are constantly exceeding the expectations of CSUCI. PathPoint would like to honor CSUCI and its affiliates for their consistent support and partnership to provide this opportunity of paid work for the individuals we support.
